The Department started out in 1953 as a handful of members who hailed from various reputable medical institutions. Arduous was their task to help build the foundations of what is now a strong and progressive Quirino Memorial Medical Center.
Today, from this handful of dedicated founders, our department has grown up to a family of energetic and responsible health professionals equipped with the highest level of competence. It now holds a stable of rigorously trained experts in various specialties like general surgery, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, pediatric surgery, colorectal surgery, urologic surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery and plastic surgery.
Procedures range from appendectomies to cholecystectomies, craniotomies, exploratory laparotomies and most recently kidney transplantation. The department also offers minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopic cholecystectomies, nephrectomies, prostatectomies and varicocoelectomies.
